Favorite Foto Friday - Holi Colorful India!

My sister is in India right now for the next month and I have been hearing bits and pieces about her travels and adventures. Although I love to travel, I have yet to go to this part of the world and I'm so eager. When I think of India, two things immediately come to mind for me - the colors and the festivals.

Recently, I came across the incredible photography of Poras Chaudhary. Some of my favorite photos of his are of Holi - The Festival of Colors. Holi is celebrated as a welcoming of Spring, and a celebration of the triumph of good over evil. What that translates to in action is an enthusiastic dropping of inhibitions, as people chase each other and playfully splash colorful paint, powder and water on each other. When I go to India, I'm definitely going to make sure its during this festival because do I ever want to join this celebration!

Poras is a freelance photojournalist and documentary photographer based in Northern India. He is a completely self-taught photographer and is best known for his color work and unique compositions. If you want to find out more about him or buy his prints, check out his website.

Have a Happy and Colorful Friday!

Favorite Foto Friday - You're a Firework

Happy Friday and Happy New Years Eve!! Its so hard to believe this year is over. I don't know about you, but it flew for me. One of my favorite thing about New Years celebrations is the fireworks. There is always something so magical about them. All of a sudden everyone gets silent and just watches together the amazing displays of color and light, with the occasional oohs and ahhs or cheering. It makes us all stop for a moment and just enjoy the beauty. It synchronizes us together as we symbolically exit one year and enter another. Its a visual expression of the joy that we feel about another year lived and the excitement and hope of the upcoming year. Here are some favorite images of fireworks for your new years eve. I hope your upcoming year are as magical and bright as a firework.

Happy New Year!!

Favorite Foto Friday - White Christmas

Hello friends,

I hope that you have had a marvelous week and that your weekend is even better. I can’t believe Christmas is only eight days away. How December flies! Today, I’m dreaming and hoping for a white Christmas. We’ve had a little snow here and there, but I’ve decided to post a few photos today for inspiration… just in case mother nature needs a little reminding here in New England. I hope you enjoy these too! J

Have a wonderful Friday.

Favorite Foto Friday - Magical Microcosmo

Hello friends,

I hope you have a magical Friday today. To add to the magic, I thought I'd post some lovely photos by Polish photographer Magda Wasiczek. Even though I love nature in general, I'm not a big fan of spiders and other creepy crawlies (as my husband can well attest to) but there is something about the way that she captures the world of the small that is simply magical to me. I feel like it's something out of Alice in Wonderland.

You can see more beautiful examples of macro, animal, portrait and nature photography on Magda's official website.

Have a lovely weekend!

Favorite Foto Friday - Spirals

I'm not exactly sure why, but I've been extremely drawn to any photos with spirals in them lately. There is always seems to be something so alluring, and yet primal, to the spiral shape. In some ways it makes me think of the infinite. Anyway, I hope you enjoy these beautiful images today.
