Its Tea Time

Hello friends,
Sorry I haven't been blogging much as of late. This summer has been fairly busy, but the weather has also just been too wonderful to spend too much extra time on the computer. Anyway, a few people have asked me to post some pictures of my recent 'Mad Hatter' Tea Party... so without further ado, here a few fun pics of the decor and food. Everyone had a great time... although it was a sweltering hot day, so we didn't end up playing croquet... and there was no way I was serving hot tea! But we had plenty of ice tea and cold drinks like lemonade and punch. It was so nice to just sit in the shade of our portico and enjoy the good food and company.
This was the little invitation I made (minus our address info)

Most of these tea cups belonged to my grandmother. It was great to get some use out of them.

My favorite find were these old clock faces that I strung up in the trees.

... and I used the clock hands to make the 'eat me' cards :)

I made up a few fun signs on the computer...

I also had a few old frames hanging in random places for a quirky feel

and found these huge tea cups and pots... which I thought were perfect for flowers

I also made 'playing card' garland from a few packs of cards and hung some old hats on our torchlights.

Some yummy desserts...

...and refreshing drinks (no one shrunk too much... although we all had to eat plenty to keep us a fairly normal size)

the rainbow of fruit helped

Well, I wish you all could have joined in on the party, but I hope that this inspires you to do a similar party if you've never done one. Its always more fun to have a party for absolutely no reason at all!

Mad about Alice

In a few weeks, I am hosting a Mad Hatter Tea Party just for the fun of it. Lets call it an un-birthday party. I love Alice and I have wanted to do this for about a year now. Anyway, whenever I have a party, I like to get ideas from across the web... although I had no clue when I started out looking for ideas that there would be quite so many. Its obviously a very popular theme and all you have to do is google 'Alice in Wonderland party' to get whole sites devoted to your special party. Well, here are just a few fun inspirations that I thought I'd share... and if you go to my pinterest site, you will see links to all the sites. Well, I wish I could invite you all to jump down the rabbit hole with me... but won't you join me in this virtual party?

and now for some fun food ideas...

A Whole Lotta Madness,

All about Alice

I FINALLY got around to seeing the Alice in Wonderland movie this weekend. Its one of my favorite stories, so I was very much looking forward to it. I really liked it... although I wasn't so impressed with the actress they cast for Alice. She just didn't seem to have the imagination that Alice is supposed to have... just my opinion. LOVED Johnny Depp though (as always).

A few months ago, I came across this fantastic idea for an Alice in Wonderland themed wedding. I loved the concept, so I saved the picture. I tried to go looking to see where I got the image, but couldn't find it. I did discover though that its a pretty popular thing now...who knew? (I haven't exactly been in the wedding planning world lately). Anyway, I thought I'd share some of the awesome ideas out there.

Another "Alice" thing I love, is Elena Kalis' underwater photography project, called Alice in Waterland. Her work is pretty popular, but if you haven't seen it, check it out!

Also, I recently came across the photos of Lissy Elle. This is a project called Get Back in Your Book, which is 'a collection of characters who strive to stay in the real world'. I love it!!

Alice

Belle (Beauty and the Beast)

Harry

Sleeping Beauty

Wendy (Peter Pan)

This post is getting pretty long, but I'll end with White Rabbit, by Jefferson Airplane. A great song!
