Floor to Ceiling Library Love

Although we can't all have bookshelves like these, built-in bookshelves are actually something you can make if you are are a do-it-yourselfer... or have a dad like mine :) He's helping us build some floor to ceiling bookcases for one room. They are twelve feet high and twenty feet wide, which is quite large, so when I went to the local home center to get wood and told them it was for a bookcase they thought I was mistaken when I said I needed 374 feet. They thought I meant 374 inches. I realize I'm a girl, but I think I do know a foot from an inch! Anyway, I love these images of these floor to ceiling bookcases. Some are modern and funky, some are more traditional. I love them all. Its a bibliophile's dream...

Books to the ceiling,
Books to the sky,
My pile of books is a mile high.
How I love them! How I need them!
I’ll have a long beard by the time I read them
–Arnold Lobel

As the biggest library if it is in disorder is not as useful as a small but well-arranged one, so you may accumulate a vast amount of knowledge but it will be of far less value than a much smaller amount if you have not thought it over for yourself.
Arthur Schopenhauer

These bookshelves are a piece of art in and of themselves.

Gone to Heaven...

Jorge Luis Borges once said 'I have always imagined that paradise will be a kind of library'. I agree. I LOVE libraries and the ones below are AMAZING. I stumbled upon these at Curious Expeditions, and I just had to post just a few of them because they are just so stunning.
